It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Diana, on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the age of 71.
Born on February 7, 1954, Diana was the daughter of the late Hubert and Elsie (Fougere) Gracie. Diana spent a big part of her life in Moncton, until her retirement five years ago, returning to the place she loved the most – Cape Breton.
Diana is survived by her daughter Pamela (Patrick), Montreal; her son Rick (Lisa), Moncton; the light of her life, granddaughter Sophie and her beloved fur baby Cooper; sisters Louise (Tommy) Leblanc, Marie (Courtney) George, Rita MacDonald (Michael), Betty Gallant (John), Jean (Ron) MacMullin; brothers Maurice (Gladys), John, Wally (Tina), Bernie (Alice), Michael (Mary), Francis (Judy), Donald (Velvet), Albert (Corine); sister-in-law Theresa, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Diana was predeceased by a brother Earl, in-laws Mariam Gracie, John Tabenski, Lloyd MacDonald, Roger Gallant and Helen Gracie.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice Cape Breton for their kindness and compassion shown to Diana in her last weeks.
A visitation for Diana will be held from 1-2 pm, Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney, with a celebration of life to follow at 2:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Donations in Diana’s memory may be made to the North Sydney Food Bank, where she had volunteered upon returning to Cape Breton, or Hospice Cape Breton. Online condolences can be left for the family on the tribute wall of the obituary.
