We are saddened to announce the passing of Theresa Eileen (Dugas) MacKay, age 80, of Boularderie, on January 15, 2026, at the Northside General Hospital. Born in Sydney, Theresa was the daughter of the late Justin and Flora (Taylor) Dugas.
Theresa is survived by her husband Roneric MacKay, her sons Blair (Debbie) Day and Jonathan (Stacey) Day, brothers Gerard (Theresa) Dugas, Blair Dugas and Justin (Maria) Dugas, sisters Yvonne (John) Miller, Yvette (Winston) Hockenhull, Verne (Randy) MacNutt, Arlene (Gary) Dugas and Monique (Paul) Baxendale, grandchildren Desmond and Renna. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins with whom she had special friendships.
Besides her parents, Theresa was predeceased by her siblings Reg Dugas and Florie (Bill) Armstrong.
Theresa was dedicated to being a music teacher for many years, and a classroom teacher for many years after. She had a great love and appreciation for music, which she passed on through her teaching. Theresa’s home was always bustling with the positive energy and loving company of family and friends, all of whom she dearly loved. She was also very active in the community over the years and was well known as a local historian and published author. She will be missed but never forgotten.
At Theresa’s request there will be no visitation, a private celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J.
