It is with broken hearts that the family of Theresa “Tessie” Catherine MacDonald announce her peaceful passing, with friends by her side at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, December 24, 2025.
Born in Mill Creek, July 3, 1935, Tessie was the daughter of the late Matilda MacMullin.
Tessie spent her life caring for others. She was a loving wife to her husband Lauchie. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Theresa loved baking and sharing with others. For many years she made hats for new born babies in hospital. She was a long time volunteer at the Northside Community Guest Home. Tessie was a member of St. Joseph Church, Bras D’Or.
Theresa will be lovingly remembered by her nieces; Lorraine (Bob) Burham, Cathy LeBlanc, Eleanor (Camillo) Caputo and Lisa (Iskender) Tokuc; nephew: Adrian (Cathy) McGrath; god-daughters; Cindy and Julie Anne Harrietha. Tessie is also survived by her best friends Cecilia Jessome, Cathy Compton, Lucy Porter and Colleen Bona. She will also be remembered by her companion Paddy Jessome and his daughter Lydia (Ken).
Besides her mother, she was predeceased by her husband Lauchie MacDonald; brothers: Paul LeBlanc, Cyril McGrath and Jim McGrath; nephew: Michael LeBlanc.
A visitation for Tessie will be held from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Sunday, December 28, 2025 in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 1030am, at St. Joseph Church, Bras D’Or, with Fr. Victor Ozonoh officiating. All are invited to a reception after the funeral at the Bras D’Or Hall. Burial to take place in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
