It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Edward Lynch, who died peacefully in his sleep at the farm surrounded by family and his horses, on June 9, 2026, at the age of 74.

Tom was born on February 23, 1952, in North Sydney. He was the son of the late Edward and Mabel (Morgan) Lynch.

Tom was well known to many in the community.  He was a kind person who was very helpful and giving to others. If there was someone in need, he would be there to help them. Tom was an avid sportsperson who enjoyed playing hockey, baseball, lacrosse and bowling. Being outdoors was a real enjoyment for Tom, especially when he was fishing and camping. He enjoyed reading and trading books with others. He began his career working on the garbage trucks for Joe Collins and then worked for Marine Atlantic on board the vessels. Eventually he began working with the steel crew where he worked most of his career before happily retiring.

Tom was a passionate person when it came to horses. Being an avid horseman, he has trained horses in Florida, throughout North America and also at the Northside Downs. Throughout his lifetime he has received many awards from Northside Downs for his character and willingness to help others. If people were looking for Tom there was a good chance you would find him at the Northside Downs any time of the day. He will be missed but certainly never forgotten.

Tom is survived by the mother of his children Nina Parker; son, Josh (Valerie) Lynch; step-sons, Adam Kilburn and Benn (Dacha) Kilburn; brother, Robert (Evelyn) Lynch; niece, Kim Murray; nephews, Glenn Robertson, Paul Robertson, Geoffrey Lynch, Andrew Lynch and great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Tom is predeceased by his parents, sister June (Dave) Robertson and nephew Daniel Lynch.
