Walter Currie Simpson

With his loving daughter by his side, Walter Currie Simpson passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025. His presence, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Walter was proud to be a father and grandfather, finding his greatest joy in his beloved daughter, Emma, and his two beautiful granddaughters, Ava Marie, and Molly Beth. He was a devoted family man who never missed an opportunity to be there for his loved ones. Walter took immense pride in supporting his family. He celebrated every milestone and provided steady guidance through every challenge. His love, dedication, and unwavering presence were a source of strength, shaping the lives of those he cherished most.

Beyond his devotion to family, Walter also served his country with honor through a distinguished military career with the Royal Canadian Air Force. As a paratrooper he embodied the values of dedication, perseverance, and service, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and commitment. His impact extended far beyond his home, as he touched the lives of many with his unwavering sense of duty. After retiring from the military, he continued to serve his country as an Investigation and Control Officer for the Canadian Government.

Walter and his girls shared a love of horses, especially their horse Mya. Walter never tired of time spent at the barn or at a horse show. Walter was proud to cheer on Emma at every one of her barrel races and was delighted to see his granddaughter Ava in the arena following in her footsteps. Walter loved time spent with his girls and was always present to support and cheer them on in all of their endeavors. His happiest days were spent by their sides.

Predeceased by his parents, Walter is survived by his cherished daughter, Emma, her partner Michael, and his adored granddaughters Ava and Molly. He will be remembered fondly by extended family, friends, and all those whose lives he enriched. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his spirit will forever be a guiding light for his loved ones.

Walter’s family would like to extend their gratitude for the healthcare professionals who showed care and compassion to Walter on his journey over the past number of years. Your kindness will not be forgotten.

Visitation for Walter will take place from 1-3 pm, Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  A celebration of Walter’s life will follow at 3:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel, with Deacon David Lewis officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made in his name to a charity of choice. Online condolences can be left for the family on the tribute wall of the obituary.
