It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother and uncle Wayne James Scott, age 63, on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his family and friends after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Born in North Sydney on November 16, 1957, he was the son of the late Jack and Frances (Skeard) Scott.  Wayne was employed with Marine Atlantic for 37 years working as storekeeper on the vessels.  He was a diehard Detroit Red Wing fan. Wayne was an avid fisherman, he enjoyed hunting, playing poker with his buddies and will be missed by his fur baby Zelda.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty years Ellen (MacLeod), his two sons Wayne (Courtney) and Matthew, his brother Jack, North Sydney, his sisters Nancy Theriault, North Sydney, Brenda (David) Douglas, Bras d’Or, his father-in-law Gordon (Dot) MacLeod, North Sydney, his special aunt and uncle Carolyn & Jim Heidl, cousin Jane Heidl, Sydney Mines, his brother-in-law Gordon (Rosalie) MacLeod, Moncton, nieces and nephews, special friends Dean Denney, Mike Kasouf, Mavis & John, Paul Cogan and Michael Vickers.

Besides his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his sister Anne Paul and mother-in-law Marion (Taylor) MacLeod.

Visitation for Wayne will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, North Sydney with Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating. Covid-19 restrictions will be followed with the wearing of masks, social distancing and limited seating in the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to Hospice Palliative Care, Cape Breton Regional Hospital or the North Sydney Food Bank.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com.
