It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Wilfred “Bud” Blagdon, age 78, on Sunday November 28, 2021 at his home.
Born in North Sydney, June 5, 1943, Bud was the son of the late Wilfred and Dorothy (Piccott) Blagdon. He served with the Canadian Armed Forces for three years, later working for the Dental Company of Canada in Toronto, where he met his wife Diane. Returning home to Cape Breton in 1970 and worked for Marine Atlantic until his retirement in 2004. Bud loved hunting, fishing and four wheeling in his earlier years. He also enjoyed fishing and boating with his good friend Cyril Tobin, they enjoyed a lot of laughs and made some good memories together. Bud had a passion for daily walks and gardening.
Bud was a loving husband with an amazing sense of humor to his wife Diane for 53 years. He was a wonderful loving father to his son Chris whom he loved with all his heart. Bud will be remembered for his humor and smile and could always make you laugh and brighten your day.
He is survived by his beloved wife Diane (Wildman) Blagdon, his son Christopher (Linda), Fox Creek, AB, his sisters Bernice (Hughie) Moore, North Sydney, Audrey (Phil) Harris, Howie Centre, Sandra (Mike) McVicar, Debbie (Russell) MacDougall, both of BC, brother-in-law Tom Eavis, nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by many extended family and friends.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister Yvonne (Blagdon) Eavis.
There will be no visitation or service as per Bud’s wishes. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com.
