It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, William “Billy” Arthur Keeping, age 66, on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at his home. 

Born in North Sydney on June 20, 1956, he was the son of the late William Otto and Janet (Mullins) Keeping. Billy was married for 46 years to the love of his life Bernadette (Lovell) Keeping.  He was a supervisor for a number of years at H.B Nickerson & Sons and later worked in Alberta as a pipe insulator.  He loved spending time with his family and friends. Camping at MacKinnon’s Campground in Lake Ainslie was a summer tradition for over 40 years. Many special friendships were made at MacKinnons - he loved his camping family. He was an avid fisherman in his earlier years, spending many hours on the lake. Billy was a devoted Toronto Maple Leafs fan and could be heard for miles when they scored. 

Billy is survived by his wife Bernadette, his two sons William ‘Bill” (Tracy), Hubley, NS, Steven (Melvina), Frenchvale, his two grandchildren Brooklyn and Grayson, his three sisters Linda (Joe) Bona, Barrachois, Emily Keeping, Patsy Keeping, both of North Sydney, his special niece Amy Keeping and her two children Poppy and Will, as well as a number of other nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents Otto and Janet, he was predeceased by his brother George, parents-in-law George and Georgina Lovell, nephews Cory and Christopher Keeping.
