William “Whitey” Parsons

It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, William David “Whitey” Parsons, age 84, on, Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surround by his loving family.
Born in North Sydney on October 5, 1937, Whitey was the son of the late Clarence and Susan (Mulley) Parsons. He was a Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, Gunners Artillery and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #19, where he served on the executive and various committees and helped with the Christmas Basket and crib games. He was employed as an electrician with Marine Atlantic for thirty years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney.
He is survived by his wife Melissa (Organ) Parsons, his children Susan (Phil) Hibbs, BC; David (Karen), Seaforth; Maureen (Tom) Murphy; Janice (John) Roper, both of Sydney Mines; Jacqueline (Larry) Boyd, North Sydney; Robert Parsons, Lower Sackville; also his nine grandchildren Robert, Christopher, Jeffrey, Jason, Robert, Andrew, Jennifer, Jillian, Katie Anne and great-grandchildren Jadon, Cassidy, Cole, Reily, Hannah, Liam, Jadan and Jenna. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Ross, North Sydney and brother Don (Julie) Parsons, Cole Harbour, his aunt Maimie Johnstone, uncle John Roy Mulley, a number of nieces and nephews and special friend Ron Quirk.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Tressa, his brothers Jack, Jim, Gordon and sister Doreen Rendell.
A funeral service for Whitey will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating. Memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew Wesley United Church or War Amps. The funeral service will be live streamed on our Facebook page.
