Wilma Margaret (Stubbert) Carey

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Wilma Margaret Carey age 78, beloved wife, sister and aunt, on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in Sydney Mines on October 9, 1946, Wilma was the daughter of the late William and Christine (MacNeil) Stubbert. Wilma was employed as a Laboratory Assistant at the Northside General Hospital for a number of years before retirement. She enjoyed cross-country skiing and travelling to Florida with her husband Kevin for spring vacations. She was a member of St. John United Church, Big Bras d’Or.

Wilma is survived by her husband Kevin Carey, brothers Harold Stubbert, St Catherines, ON, Clifford (Astelle) Stubbert, Millville, sister Joanne Crenshaw, Florida, also by a number of nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her dogs Duncan and Kelzie.

Besides her parents, Wilma was predeceased by her sister Harriet (Ralph) Andrews.

A graveside service will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
