It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Yvonne Eavis, age 77, beloved wife, sister, aunt and friend, on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in North Sydney, on October 9, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Dorothy (Piccott) Blagdon.   Yvonne was a member of the Altar Guild at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in North Sydney.  She owned and operated Shear Magic Hairdressing in North Sydney for over 30 years until her retirement.

Yvonne excelled at everything she did, she was a talented quilter and painter and her paintings were displayed at the North Sydney Art Show and in the Northside Community Guest Home where she resided.  She was a proud member of the Cape Breastoners Dragon Boat Team and also the North Sydney Garden Club.  Yvonne loved travelling to visit family in Ontario and western Canada, overseas and Hawaii.  She loved playing cards with her card club friends.  In her earlier years she enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband Tom.

She is survived by her husband Thomas Eavis, North Sydney, her brother Wilfred “Bud” (Diane) Blagdon, Upper Leitches Creek, her sisters Bernice (Hughie) Moore, North Sydney, Sandra (Mike) McVicar, British Columbia, Audrey (Phil) Harris, Howie Centre, Debbie (Russell) MacDougall, British Columbia, her sister-in-law Bonnie Eavis, Georges River, brothers-in-law Philip (Karen) Eavis, Leitches Creek, Ron (Joan) Eavis, North Sydney and also survived and loved by many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Yvonne was predeceased by a son Stephen David in infancy, mother and father-in-law Margaret & Clayton Eavis, brother-in-law Cyril Eavis. 

The family would like to thank the staff of Theresa Terrace at the Northside Guest Home and the doctors and staff of 3B at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

There will be no public visitation.  A funeral service for Yvonne will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church with Rev. Julio Martin officiating.  Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.  Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
