Peter Vincent Walsh

Peter Vincent Walsh

The second son of Joseph A. Walsh, grandson of William J. Dooley, and great-grandson of John J. Dooley, Peter has been directing funerals in the family business for over fifty years. He started working with his father following graduation from St. Joseph's High School in North Sydney in 1973, received his professional license in 1976, and took over the operations of the firm in 1984. Since then, he has steadily grown and guided the business with consummate professionalism and acumen.

His dedication to the profession and the Northside Community have been exemplary.  He has served as president of his professional association and as chairman of the Nova Scotia Board of Registration of Embalmers and Funeral Directors. He’s been a member of the Kinsmen Club of North Sydney, the North Sydney Business Improvement and District Commission, the Northside Hospital Foundation, and the Parish Council of St. Joseph Church.

Eileen (Dunn) Walsh, Peter’s wife, has also been a mainstay at the funeral home for over twenty years as the office administrator. She has been instrumental in the personalized stationery that families have received and cherished over the past two decades. She has often been the first voice to greet you over the phone or the first face you meet upon entering the office (when she’s not out for a 10k run, of course).

Together, Peter and Eileen are proud parents of Matthew (Mary), Michael, and Laura, and grandparents to Molly and Michael. They enjoy most things together, especially time spent with family, and gathering over a good meal.

After living abroad for many years in Italy as an English teacher, Michael has returned to the family business.
