It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Francis “Frank” Garfield White age 74, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, on Thursday December 7, 2017 at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney.

Born in North Sydney October 2, 1943, Frank was the son of the late Gary and Edna (Gillard) White. He was employed as a coal miner with Devco at Prince Mine, Point Aconi until his retirement. Frank was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, walking in the woods but most of all spending time at his cabin in Cape Dauphin.

He is survived by his two daughters Julie (Thomas) Carey and Krista Sibley, both of Florence, his son Karl (Kitty) White, Dominion, seven grandchildren Daniel and Hayley White, Riley and Brynn White, Austen, Evan and Lily Carey, by his son-in-law George Sibley, his sisters Mary Sheppard, Sydney, Cecilia Parsons, Katherine White, Gloria White, all of North Sydney, Cleo McLeod, Bras d’Or, brother Eddy White, Sydney, sister-in-law Lee White, best friend Buddy MacLean and special friend Debbie Ivey, also by a number of nieces and nephews.

Frank was predeceased by his wife Carolyn (Edwards) White, his sister Patsy Parks, brothers Jack, Jimmy and Melvin in infancy, brothers-in-law Earl Sheppard, Joe Parsons, John McLeod.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff of 4West, Northside General Hospital, especially Mark Vale for the care and compassion shown to Frank and family during his brief illness.

By request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Frank’s wish was for everyone to raise a glass in his honour.
