It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Norman Andrew Scott age 70, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, on Monday December 11, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born October 21, 1947 in North Sydney, Norm was the son of Elizabeth “Beth” Scott of Sydney Mines and of the late Andrew A. Scott. He worked as a coal miner with Devco at the Lingan and Prince Mines until his retirement. He later operated Georgie’s Fries for a number of years. Norm was a family man who cherished spending time with his wife and family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed his daily walks with good friend George Carter, skating at local rinks throughout the area and he loved animals, especially his pets Toby, Sheba and Muffin.

Besides his mother, Norm is survived by his wife and best friend Georgie (Bedford) Scott, sons Aaron (Dianna) Scott, North Sydney, Steven Scott (Tracey), Sydney Mines, the light of his life, grandchildren Anderson and Vada Scott, his sister Donna Elizabeth (Kevin) MacMillan, Sydney Mines, two nephews Scott (Kim) MacMillan and Cale (Kim) MacMillan, by his aunt Lois Caldwell, Ottawa, sister-in-law Shirley (Joe) Dolomont, Halifax.

Visitation for Norm will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. No funeral service will be held. Burial at Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the SPCA. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com .
